The large field is for 10 to 14 year olds.  This field is the closest to the road as you enter the soccer complex.  Please note that the driveway to the east of this field is a private driveway and is not part of the soccer complex.  Please do not use this driveway or try to park on the east side of this field.   Please do not allow children to play on this (or any) driveway or in the cornfield.

Good luck to all teams!  You are ALL winners!!

Note: As in the past, we will be needing all coaches to help as referees. You are asked to please stay to referee the match immediately following your own.  Please decide amongst yourselves who will referee the first game each week. Volunteers are greatly appreciated!   If there is no referee for a game, each of the opposing coaches will referee 1/2 of their game.  In addition, it is helpful to appoint 2 people as linesmen, even if there is a center referee, one for each side of the field. In the past, we have asked one parent from each team, or opposing assistant coaches, to take on this role. They are to call balls "out" and are a great help in determining which team will take possession of the ball. They are not to call "offside". This is left to the field refs in an attempt to make it fair for everyone since our coaches vary in their soccer experience/training. Please see your coach's handbook for more information regarding refereeing.

Pictures: Will be announced unless otherwise arranged with the photographer, Kathy Leffler.  Payment will be due when pictures are taken.

Info for the Large Field:

  1. Coaches, please instruct your assistants, players, and especially parents that none of us are perfect and mistakes will be made on occasion.  Please encourage them (especially by example) to show respect and control, even if they disagree with calls or plays.  Please also instruct the parents and team members that everyone (including yourselves, coaches!), except the linesmen, needs to stay at least 3 feet back from the sidelines (behind the red/orange lines), outside the field of play!  This is an important safety issue and will also assist the referee in making correct calls.   Remember: Our goal for the children is to have fun while learning!!!  Let them play!!

  2. Coaches, discuss with your parents the possibility of having a team parent to coordinate snacks during halftime and/or after the game. Snacks during halftime should be water/sports drinks and/or fruit. Ask your parents to please refrain from sweets until after the game if they decide to have snacks then. Fruits provide a "longer lasting" source of energy than sweets and don't tend to induce cramping.

  3. Soccer is an all-weather sport and we will play in the rain (though not in thunder and lightning).  If a match is to be cancelled due to bad weather, it will be a board decision, not an individual coach decision.  Please check the home page of this website for notification or call: 419-949-4337.  Missed games may be rescheduled if both coaches/teams desire.  Please consult a board member if this is the case.

  4. Each team will field 11 players (including a goalkeeper) unless otherwise agreed upon by both coaches and the referee. There can be less players, but not more than 11 for each team on the field at one time.  Games are 2, 25 minute halves with 5-10 minutes for halftime (decided between coaches and referee).  Teams will switch field halves after halftime.

Have a great season and remember to have fun!!!!
